We turn NYC's DOB NOW approved-permits feed into one clean record per permit issuance: the licensed contractor with licence type and number, the building owner, the work type and job description, and the address, BIN, block and lot, plus approval, issue and expiry dates. One record is one permit issued for one work type on one job filing, published daily by the City itself, not scraped from the DOB NOW portal.

Run with no input and you get the 100 newest permits issued in the last 7 days; every filter is applied on the City's own server, so a narrow search is as fast as a broad one. maxResults ranges 1 to 50,000 and is your cost cap. A live smoke run of the default input delivered 100 records in 6.180s wall time, matching a 2,951-row 7-day window with one page of 125 rows fetched. Large runs page by keyset on issued date and Socrata's row id, not by offset, so a permit added or removed mid-run cannot shift later pages or leave a hole in what you paid for; a live two-day, 1,366-row window was walked across two pages with zero duplicates. Renewals appear as separate rows with a higher sequenceNumber; filter filingReason to Initial Permit to see each permit once. A default (unfiltered) run that returns fewer than 50 deliverable permits fails by design, since NYC issues about 3,000 permits a week; a filtered search that matches nothing succeeds free. On 2026-08-23 a few hundred source rows were unusable and skipped rather than delivered: 212 with no permit number, 308 carrying the City's own placeholder "Permit is not yet issued", and 306 with no issue date. Electrical, elevator and Limited Alteration Application permits, and the older BIS-system permits (DOB Permit Issuance, ipu4-2q9a, about 3.99 million rows), are published as separate City datasets and are not included here.

Size: 988,641 rows back to June 2016 (2016-06-23), with 14,892 permits issued in the previous 30 days and 2,951 in the previous 7, counted 2026-08-23. 988,012 of the 988,641 are distinct on the dedupe key (work permit, sequence, work type, tracking number); the remaining 629 are exact repeats and are dropped.
Refresh: The dataset's own metadata states Update Frequency Daily, Automation Yes. Read on 2026-08-23, it had been republished on 2026-08-22 and its newest issue date was 2026-08-21.
Licence: The dataset's metadata carries no licence field. Use is governed by the NYC Open Data Terms of Use, which state that public data sets on NYC Open Data are provided for informational purposes and that by accessing them the user agrees to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy of NYC.gov. The City does not warrant completeness or accuracy.

How do I get NYC building permits issued this week with the contractor's name?

Run with no input. You get the 100 newest permits issued in the last 7 days, each with the contractor's name, business name, licence number and the owner. Raise maxResults to take the whole week, about 3,000 rows.

Can I search NYC DOB permits by address or building?

By building, yes: set bin. Every record carries house number, street, ZIP, block, lot and BBL, so matching on address downstream is straightforward. There is no free-text address filter because the City stores house numbers and street names in inconsistent formats.

How often is NYC DOB permit data updated?

The City states daily. sourcePublishedAt on every record is the timestamp of the copy you received, so you can schedule the actor daily with the default input to track the feed.
